PARTIAL LOCKDOWN; CONTINUOUS ADHERENCE TO PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES GERMANE - DR. MICHAEL NWOKO

As the State wide lockdown imposed by his excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa comes to an end, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on health monitoring and member, COVID-19 Enforcement Committee, Dr. Michael Nwoko has made passionate plea to all residents of the State not to see the end of the lockdown as an end to the various measures put in place to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease.

Dr. Nwoko made the call while speaking on a Delta broadcasting service TV programme ''Morning Ride''. He specifically admonished Deltans to continue to maintain social distancing as a way of life, he said the culture of hand washing along with other precautionary measures required to curtailing the spread of the deadly virus should continue.

Dr. Nwoko said although a partial lockdown of the State as declared by the Governor takes effect from 30th April 2020, he warned that the pandemic was still very much around and that the only way to stay safe is to continue to adhere strictly to the healthy measures as was practiced during the lockdown.

On the continued closure of the State borders, Dr. Nwoko said that despite the numerous difficulties associated with manning the State borders, the committee saddled with the responsibility has been doing a splendid job and will continue to give their best despite the multiplicity of entry points to the State.

He enumerated the border posts to include, the Onitsha bridge head, Ologbo, Urhonigbe, Idumuje-Ugboko, Igbanke, Alifekede, Mbiri, Patani, Abraka and Illah-Ebu extension. He assured that even with the many entry points, the committee will live up to its responsibility.

Speaking on the State readiness in the post lockdown era, Dr. Nwoko said the State Governor Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has put in place an array of well tested individuals from all the professional fields to work out ways to continue to contain the virus without necessarily jeopardising the social and economic situation in the State.

He particularly gave praise to the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his foresight in shutting the State when other States had not even thought out the idea, Dr. Nwoko described the Governor as a visionary leader that all aspiring politicians should aspire to emulate adding that the measures taken by the Governor to guarantee the safety of all residents of Delta State following the outbreak of COVID-19 is germane and that TOGETHER WE CAN STOP COVID-19.
