DEADLINE GIVEN TO PRIVATE FACILITIES TO VALIDATE THEIR REGISTRATION WITH THE STATE MINISTRY OF HEALTH ELAPSES OCTOBER 31st, 2019.....
DR. MICHAEL NWOKO
The Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on Health monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko has stated that the October 31st deadline given to private Hospitals and clinics that are yet to validate their registration with the State Ministry of Health remains sacrosanct.
The SSA made this known today in a live program "the peep show" on Delta Television where he featured as a guest on the live program earlier today.
It would be recalled that the SSA, Health Monitoring had earlier issued a press statement on the 5th of September 2019, mandating all private Hospitals and Clinics operating in the State that are yet to validate their registration with the State Ministry of Health to ensure they they do so on or before the 31st of October 2019 or be shut down.
According to Dr. Nwoko, the decision was sequel to the resolution to a crucial meeting held between his Office, the Honourable Commissioner for Health and the Director, Medical Services and Training of the Ministry on the 3rd of September, 2019.
Dr. Nwoko also gave a breakdown of his activities in terms of monitoring and evaluation of health care facilities across the State.
He explained that his Office had carried out first round of visitation to virtually all the health care facilities in Oshimili South LGA, and had reported accordingly and made necessary recommendations to His Excellency, the Governor, noting that health monitoring and evaluation is germane to effective and efficient Health Care Delivery in line with the Universal Health Coverage policy of our amiable Governor in the State. He further stated that the monitoring and evaluation visits to the Health Care facilities as well as agencies and Commission under the Ministry of Health are staggered and unannounced.
He concluded by calling on owners of Private Healthcare facilities in the State to ensure they comply with this directive and always uphold ethical standards as they are all stakeholders in ensuring that Universal Health Coverage is achieved in the State in line with the stronger Delta Agenda of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State.
