PRINCE NED NWOKO DISTRIBUTES CONSUMABLES AND HAND SANITIZERS URGES ADHERENCE TO PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES.

The legendary international legal luminary, Hon Prince Ned Nwoko has urged Nigerians, especially the people of Delta North Senatorial District of Delta State, to adhere strictly to Covid-19 precautionary measures released by World Health Organization, WHO and to comply with measures put in place by the government to contain the spread of the global killer monster called Covid-19.

The famous philanthropist made the call on Monday 30th March 2020, through Dr Michael Nwoko, who on his behalf, led a team to distribute Personal hospital consumables and hand sanitizers to health care facilities across the senatorial district.

The Covid-19 protective items which worth millions of naira, includes facemasks, hand gloves and alcohol based hand sanitizers. According to the former federal law maker, the donation was part of his contribution to compliment the efforts of Delta State Government to stop the virus from spreading into the State and to curtail its rapid spread should there be an outbreak in the State.

Whilst addressing the people during the distribution of the items at Idumuje Ugboko Health Centre, Idumuje Ugboko, the home town of the benefactor,  Dr Michael Nwoko, said, 'Hon Prince Ned Nwoko is very much aware of the global coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world, and true to his usual nature of intervening to mitigate the challenges of the people, has decided to donate these protective items and to sensitised the people on Covid-19 safety tips as instructed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, (NCDC) .'

Further, while lecturing the people on the preventive measures issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Nwoko outlined five steps everyone must follow to stay safe from the virus, these steps are; regular washing of hands with clean water and soap, maintaining a clean environment, social distancing, avoiding crowded places, self isolation and prompt reporting of persons with suspected signs/symptoms of Covid-19.

He further outlined the signs of a suspected Covid-19 victim to include, dry cough, sneezing, body pain, weakness, high fever and difficulty in breathing.

Also, Mr Anthony Iyasele, a medical laboratory scientist who is one of the health personnel trained by Delta State Emergency Operation Committee, EOC, on proper handling of PPE, demonstrated how to use and dispose the protective items. He also demonstrated hand washing and the application of the hand sanitizers, which he emphasized, should be done  thoroughly and regularly.
From Idumuje Ugboko, the team went to the General Hospital, Issele Uku, Central Hospital, Agbor, Okwe General Hospital and Umuagwu Health centre, Asaba, where the items were distributed and similar lectures and demonstration were carried out.

Speaking at the end of the presentation, the medical Director, Okwe General Hospital, Dr A. Aghaulor, commended Prince Ned Nwoko for his humanitarian disposition, saying that the consumables and alcohol based hand sanitizers donated by him will go along way in complimenting the efforts of the State Government. He reechoed the fact that health workers as frontline personnel in the fight against various diseases including COVID-19, need the consumables mostly to carry out their duties effectively.

Similar exercise were carried out simultaneously in health facilities in other parts of Delta North Senatorial district by a team led by Comr. Idi Presley

Briefing the Press after carrying out the sensitisation and distributions of the items in the zone Dr. Michael Nwoko, SSA to Governor Okowa on Health Monitoring, who led the team, said, 'we have just rounded off the distribution of some hospital consumables donated by Hon. Prince Ned Nwoko, to health care facilities in Delta North senatorial district. We also used the medium to sensitize the people on the COVID-19  safety tips as approved by WHO and NCDC.
Measures taken by Delta State Government, under the command of His Excellency, Sen. Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, the Governor of Delta State to stop the spread of the disease into the state, were also properly explained to the people.' He stated.

Further he added, 'you will agree with me that the scale and magnitude of what is confronting us today is overwhelming. So, at this point in time, Prince Ned Nwoko, as a man with great compassion for the plight of the people, decided, to complement the measures already put in place by Delta State Government to stop the virus from spreading into the State and to reinforce the capacity of the State to promptly respond to any possible outbreak of the pandemic disease  in the state. Dr Michael Stated.

The SSA to the Governor enjoined all residents of Delta State to comply with government directives in order to stop the spread of the virus, adding that such is necessary to save life.

He equally used the opportunity to urge eminent Deltans to emulate Hon.
Prince Ned Nwoko by helping their constituents to overcome the fearsome killer virus, in whatever capacity they can assist to enable them to cope and adhere to the precautionary measures introduced by the government to contain the virus. we
